Saul seeks the advice of a medium , because God will not answer him


Aching sends David Ziklag


David destroy the Amalekites

his family lines are gone . Saul take his own life.


Anointed king, by God. To have it all given to you with blessing. And then you turn your back him , by disobeying God.


I’m not sure why Saul took this long to realize. But even though he was still king. He no longer have the favor of God. And that all that he would do would not be in favor, or favored by God, and would be sent to fail from the start.


At this point, we’ve learned the simple lesson of obey.

Saul is a fascinating character. From the relatively lowly Benjamin tribe, very charismatic, very capable, chosen by God and loved by all, he couldn't resist paying too much attention to worldly concerns and not listening to God. He paid a huge price for this, but paying too much attention to wordly concerns is something we -- or I, anyway -- do every day and for which we have to keep correcting ourselves. I think Saul gets a bum rap. He is more of an Everyman than a devil. Of course he was a king, not an Everyman, but worldly temptations must be even more alluring for a king than for the rest of us, and more difficult to resist. …
