David Hears of Saul’s death

David’s lament for Saul and Jonathan


David anointed king over Judah

War between the houses of David and Saul


Took me most of the morning to think on the swing and meditate. What comes to mind is the turning of the cheek


Samuel was told by God to make Saul King. He should be the one for the people to leave the people . But then God realize that Saul didn’t obey his commands. He was afraid of the men and therefore win against God’s wishes. At this point, God, no longer favors him. And God son, Samuel out and ask him to seek out David. Another champion. One that will follow…

2023.04.06 (Thu) Bible Study #96 - 2 Samuel 1-2


Title: Loving Your Enemies


Scripture: [1 Samuel 11:11-12]

11 And David took hold of his garment, and tore it, and all that were with him: 12 And Saul, and Jonathan his son, and the people of the LORD, and the house of Israel, mourned and wept and fasted until the evening, because of the death by the sword.


Discovery:

Saul, who had sought to kill him, died.

[David] At the death of his so-called "enemy," David "tore his clothes and wept," and mourned and fasted until evening.


Realization:

The fact that Saul, who was like an enemy to him, tore his clothes in anger over the death of the Lord's anointed,…
