I have been having a rough time with Isaiah -- skimming, it, glazed eyes, what is going on here, etc etc. I finally gave up on my (usually beloved) King James Version and switched to a Common English Bible I bought at Mardens at few months ago for $6. What a difference! Tremendous poetry, and I have at least SOME idea of what is going on. Verse 63, which almost seemed to blame God for some of Israel's misfortune, was almost shockingly different from most Bible readings and real food for thought, and the second half of Verse 65 was just terrific, one of my new favorite songs of joy. When I quote a verse in the Bible, I use NIV, but when I study God's Word I usually use more than one version as well.
