Day 14 : The Group Meeting
Open your time with the leader, offering a brief prayer of thanksgiving for the opportunity of being together. God has already been gracious in making it possible for you to be present. Celebrate that reality and seek God’s presence for the rest of the meeting.
2. Come to the session with a meaningful prayer passage from the Bible.
Even though John Wesley is the focus of our study, the Bible is the inspired
source. Spend time today selecting your prayer passage and reflecting on
its importance in your life.
3. Bring a meaningful prayer book to the meeting. It may be a book of actual
prayers or a book about prayer. Remember on Day Five we looked at the
example of G. Earnest Thomas as he taught people to pray through the
reading of meaningful prayers.
Perhaps you have a prayer, or the like, that has been important to you.
There’s nothing like show and tell to personalize and make tangible the
kind of ideas we’ve studied this week.
4. Close the session with prayer. In addition to the mixture of spoken and
silent prayers, write each person’s name on a sheet of paper and then
distribute the names around the group. The name you draw can be your
silent prayer partner for the third week of your study. Before you leave,
pray the Lord’s Prayer together
