Day 19 : Purposeful Reading
Reflecting and Recording
What was the most challenging part of today’s reading for you? Why?
How have you sought to practice Wesley’s principle of personal and full (teaching others your learnings) application in your devotional life?
Relating
In his book How to Give Away Your Faith, Paul Little provides seven
questions to help us see if we are reading the Bible in ways that will enable us
to make it applicable to our lives. As you read the following questions, identify
the points you seek readily in your Bible reading and which ideas you need to
focus on more diligently :
Is there an example for me to follow?
Is there a sin for me to avoid?
Is there a command for me to obey?
Is there promise for me to claim?
What does this passage teach me about God or Jesus Christ?
Is there a difficulty for me to explore?
Is there something in this passage I should pray about today?

None of today's reading was challenging. It mirrors what I have been doing. It's comforting to realize that. Besides studying God's Word for personal enrichment and obedience, I have always, through writing, sought to share what I learn and how I apply its principles to my life.

I always look for God's promises in my study. I also use more than one translation if I need further clarification, but I'm very careful in what translation I use so as not to see something that rea…
