Day 23: Christ Truly Present
Reflecting and Record
How are you helped by holding on the real presence of Christ, without having to believe in transubstantiation or consubstantiation?
Does the open table shed further light on the two emphases of Communion as a memorial meal and a pledge of future glory?
Relating
Think of how the Lord’s Supper might be an occasion for a person to be
convicted ( prevenient grace ), to be converted ( justifying grace), or to be
further consecrated ( sanctifying grace).
Have you ever known people who were affected in each way through Holy
Communion.
For me, the "key" word here is "receive". Although the Lord is always present in me, I receive Him, and His love and His sacrifice. I am coming to Him and He is coming to me at the same time.
Communion should be open to anyone at any time.
