Day 27: Who Should Receive the Lord’s Supper?
Reflecting and Recording
Do you receive from Wesley confusion regarding the answer to today’s lead question, or do you receive room to consider the question in terms of your own situation?
Why do you suppose Wesley wanted to make baptism a prerequisite for sharing in the Lord’s Supper?
Does this point of view connect the two sacraments in a significant way?
Relating
If you grew up a Christian home, when did your parents allow you to
celebrate your first Communion?
As you recall, was this timely or untimely for you? Why?
If you are a parent, how have you dealt with this in the lives of your children?
If you do not have children of your own, consider asking these questions to a
friend who does.
I think it's beautiful that children can receive Communion at any age. However, through Sunday school class or some other class they can get a better understanding of the reason why. But I also believe that as we grow in our Christian faith through the years, we change in many ways. Children who receive Communion at a young age may be looking at it much differently 20 years later. Jesus sees us all as His children and I believe no matter how old we are, He sees children coming to the altar.

But I haven’t really found something that was suitable all right.
I’ve gone…
