Nehemiah 8:16-17
“So, the people went out and brought back branches and built themselves temporary shelters on their own roofs, in their courtyards, in the courts of the house of God and in the square by the Water Gate and the one by the Gate of Ephraim. The whole company that had returned from exile built temporary shelters and lived in them. From the days of Joshua, son of Nun until that day, the Israelites had not celebrated it like this. And their joy was very great.”
Today’s reading reminded me of something that I wrote twenty years ago when I moved to Maine. This is what I wrote:

Good things were done under Nehemiah, although he was not a skilled, or his divine is Ezra, his zeal set as you’re learning on work, and great things were done because of it. Things we had not seen in the past. The public and solemn, reading, and expounding of the law is given under Nehemiah, the joy of the people were ordered to expense upon occasion, and keeping of the feast of tabernacles according to law. We see great strength, the good work that was seen in the assemblies, and the honor of God on the edification of the church.
