So Joshua’s final words to Israel

Reflection


As I look at Joshua, 23–24 I can see that in his final hours Joshua, once again reminds the Israelites of all the wonderful and glorious things that God has done for them. He has taught them what it is God wants. He has shared what would be the disappointments of certain actions that would cause God “an angry, god” to be upset with them, and take action.

He goes over all of the laws that were sent down by Moses. And he asks and renews the covenant with the Israelites with God. They must obey. They must listen.…

"And Joshua wrote these words in the Book of the Law of God. " (Joshua 24:26)


The Bible is God's conversation with us. It contains stories, biographies, history and geography. Its words are meant to inspire, instruct and sometimes convict us. Both Moses and Joshua saw the importance of writing down instructions given by God.


When I write about God, I look for instruction as well. But I've learned through years of studying His Word, not to "look to be inspired". As I'm reading His Word, the message the Lord has for me that day will show itself....usually unexpectedly. And sometimes having nothing at all to do with the "theme" of the verses.
