Judges, 7–8
God once again, helps Gideon defeat

But upon the death of Gideon, once again, the followers choose to go against the word of God.
Reflection
Again, and again, help, defeat, lead, betrayal .
This is the pattern of the Israelites. God gives them a leader, whom they follow, because he shows to them that he is with that leader. 
But upon the death of the leader, the Israelites turned back to their sins and sinful ways. More lessons, more war, more guidance.
We are creatures of habit. And only former habits they’re hard to break if they’re good or bad. I think that’s the importance of making sure that our children start at a very young…
No sooner had Gideon died than the Israelites again prostituted themselves to the Baals. They set up Baal-Berith as their god ³⁴ and did not remember the LORD their God, who had rescued them from the hands of all their enemies on every side. (Judges 8:33-34)
It seems that right after the death of an appointed leader the Lord gives to the Israelites, they make the decision to walk away from God...again. And all hell breaks loose...again.
Like the Israelites, whenever we walk away from God, we decide to do so. We allow anger, fear, disappointment or some other uncontrollable emotion to take center stage and we momentarily forget where our help comes from. But He knows who we ar…
