Reflection
I found judges very hard to do reflections on. It seems like an angry unruly time. One full of war and dismay of loss.
But I think that is true of any time that there’s no God. When people lose sight of what’s important, and they spend more time, looking at vengeance and revenge. When they fill their hearts with hatred, and not with love.
Not having a king seems to be worse than having a bad king. At least when they were kings, it was some kind of control. I wonder why it is that God would’ve spent…
In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as they saw fit. (Judges 21:25)
As soon as I read those words, my first reaction was, “Just like today. “Unfortunately, our King, Jesus Christ, seems to be less and less important in the lives of many people today.
My impression of the book of Judges is that everyone was killing everyone out of revenge. And unfortunately, that’s what’s still happening today with mass shootings. It’s very scary to realize that when people don’t get their way or are reeling from being bullied, the immediate reaction is: “I will get even with them”. It's disturbing to think that violence is the answer to some people's problems.... especially young people today.…
